Édouard Vuillard & Pierre Bonnard

Pierre Bonnard studied in the Académie Julian and is admitted to the École des beaux-arts de Paris, where he meets Edouard Vuillard, then they became close. They had a great artistic complicity and a truly fraternal friendship. Pierre Bonnard was particularly marked by his different conception of perspective and space. He received the nickname of "Nabi japonard". He seemed to find his way in a return to a certain impressionism, introducing mystery into the visible appearance. He represented many nudes to which he associated motifs of his daily life like garden & fruits. Edouard Vuillard, on the other hand, was famous for painting French figures, portraits, interiors, still lifes, and intimate scenes. He was especially interested in realistic still lifes and domestic interiors. Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard belonged to the Nabis artistic group, an avant-garde post-impressionist artistic movement based on the aesthetics of the Arts & Crafts movement, which aimed to mix major and minor arts; and to integrate art into everyday life.
