Otto DIX is a major German painter and printmaker of expressionism and one of the founders of New Objectivity. It is a movement composed of expressionism and Dadaism. He voluntarily enlisted and asked to be on the front line of the battlefield but what he saw every day haunts him and becomes the subject of his artistic work and tortured sketches. He returned to fight on the front lines during the Second World War and Although he was decorated after the war by both Germanies, he withdrew into himself.
