Paul Cézanne

Paul Cézanne, born in 1839, is the author of numerous portraits and landscapes of Provence in the south of France. On the nineteenth century, painters classified as Impressionists, Cézanne's work extends beyond the Impressionist period and is probably the most difficult to identify. While the Impressionists used small brushstrokes, Paul Cézanne used impasto, emphasized geometric forms and moved toward Cubism.
