Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

Despite a short life marked by illness, Toulouse-Lautrec was an important impressionist and post-impressionst painter who made numerous masterpieces. His paintings of prostitutes and dancers gave him a reputation around the Parisian cabarets and the artistic places. He also made canvases that became famous for Le Moulin Rouge or Le Chat Noir. Then sent to psychiatric hospital in February 1899, he create a series of 39 drawings of a circus with his memory. After this, doctors where shocked by his art and decided to let him free, recognizing the perfect state of his memory. “ I bought my freedom with my drawings “.
