Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas was a French painter born in 1834 in Paris and passed out in 1917 in the same city. He was officially known as an impressionist painter, but he didn’t join them in many features. The artist explored all genre and artistic themes, but the landscapes were one of his weaknesses. Dance was one of his favourite subjects and it will mark his career with paintings still famous nowadays. In 1855 he joined the Beaux-Arts in Paris to learn but he preferred to follow the approach of the great classical masters of the Italian Renaissance and went to Italia to deepen his art. Unfortunately, in 1860 his vision started to deteriorate and in 1905 he retreated into his studio, embittered by the blindness that won on him. Most of his works were auctioned the following year.
