Léger

Nicknamed the “peasant of avant-garde”, Fernand Léger (1881-1955) developed a very identifiable style to be associated with the cubist movement. Inspired by industrial modernity, (“Plane in the Sky”), Fernand Léger’s figures and colours were interwoven in an abstract manner as in “The Big Black Divers”. Discover his simplified shapes with shadows under their eyes and the monumental figures like those in the “Leisure, tribute to Louis David”, which brought him to fame. Enjoy your visit!
