Ernst

A German national, Max Ernst (1891-1976) worked mostly in France. He was also a sculptor but it was his paintings that made him famous. In the artistic milieu between the two World Wars, he was a member first of the Dada movement, and then of the Surrealist one. The titles of the pictures you are going to view show their close links to literature, dreams and creative instincts, as in “Chimera”, “The Garden of France” both exposed at the Modern art Museum in Paris or “Night Prowling Fish”. Enjoy your visit!
