Paul Cézanne

Born in Aix-en-Provence in the South of France, Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was a great French painter of the second half of the 19th century. Impressionist artist first, he is a initiator of the post-impressionnisme and the cubisme in his labour. In his still lifes and his “Bathers”, he is innovative in his geometric forms, which influenced the Cubist artists who came after him. He chose to paint the “Mont Saint Victoire” twenty times in his landscapes. Note the beautiful simplicity of “Apples and Oranges” composition or the quiet concentration of his “Card Players” both exposed at the Orsay museum. Enjoy your visit!
