Naval Museum, “The Navy and the Painters: Four Centuries of Art and Power”.

To mark the 400th anniversary of the French Navy, its museum is hosting an exhibition entitled “The Navy and the Painters. Four Centuries of Art and Power”. Tracing the depiction of this naval force from its rise in the 17th century through to the 20th century, nearly 150 paintings are on display. Bertrand de Sainte-Marie, Chief Curator of Heritage and Head of Conservation at the National Maritime Museum, reveals all its secrets.
