The dream’s navel

The dream’s navel

The dream’s navel
The exhibition celebrates four artists, Félicien Rops, Max Klinger, Alfred Kubin and Armand Simon, whose works are set in dialogue and confrontation and reflect the concerns and turpitudes of our modernity. Organized around five themes (the dream, the feminine, death, eroticism and the uncanny), which are also those of psychoanalysis and literature, the exhibition aspires to be a reflection of the cultural and social changes that marked Europe throughout the twentieth century. Beyond international partnerships (Austria, Poland, France), the exhibition is an opportunity to discover the royal Museum of Mariemonts’ rich collection of works of Félicien Rops, most of which are little known to the general public.
