Daniel Milhaud observes the masks at the carnival of Basel. In the company of the writer Frédéric Valabrègue, the sculptor revisits his self-portraits. The line of his drawings is duplicated, his characters in balance question their identity, in a staging that plays with words and concepts and draws in space from the color and the material: neons, paper mache, calabashes. In his studio, Milhaud uses the animals, the forms and the signs that he has made to build step by step a "Vanity", which like his public commissions in stone, speaks of the place of man in the universe always leaving a certain intimacy in the monumentality of his sculptures.
