Discover the Musée Picasso in Paris!

The Blue Period, the Pink Period, Cubism, Surrealism... So many movements in which the great Pablo Picasso distinguished himself! To help you understand, discover and appreciate them, Museum TV invites you to visit the Musée Picasso in Paris, dedicated entirely to the artist.

Multiple exhibitions and 5,000 works by Picasso

In 1973, Picasso died in the lair of the Minotaure, his property in Mougins (06). The following year, Michel Guy, Secretary of State for Culture, decided to move the collection of Picasso's works to the Hôtel Salé, in the 3ᵉ arrondissement. In 1981, a 99-years lease was signed and the State leased the Hôtel Salé to the city for a toke rent. In other words, it was the least they could do for this great artist.

Thus, the Musée Picasso was inaugurated with great fanfare in October 1985 and was completely renovated between 2006 and 2009. With countless works by Pablo Picasso and the various movements that the artist explored, the Picasso Museum has always been able to diversify its collections.

At the end of 2017, the museum dedicated an exhibition to Picasso's erotic period. Earlier in the year, an exhibition focused on the collaboration between the sculptor Giacometti and Picasso. Thus, this Parisian museum keeps the memory of the famous painter alive.

Current exhibition: Picasso Celebration, the collection takes on color

In this anniversary year, the Musée Picasso in Paris has invited British designer Sir Paul Smith, known for his work with color, bespoke tailoring, and kitsch, to curate an exceptional exhibition, showcasing the museum's collection. Consequently, many works discussing a common theme - color - are on display.

Exhibition until August 27, 2023.
