This week, the British public focuses on iconic royal portraits dating from the 16th century as they attempt to spot a fake among The National Portrait Gallery of Scotland’s collection of Stuart paintings. While scrutinizing works over 500 years old, the people of Edinburgh rediscover characters and stories from Scotland’s turbulent history. As they explore the collection, they also uncover the story of how British artists discovered perspective and evolved the art of portraiture.
