Now the nationwide challenge has led to the oldest museum in the country, The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, where just ten finalists have been selected to use the skills that they have acquired to find one final fake, painted by ex-master-forger John Myatt. His meticulous copy of an Ashmolean original is lurking amongst one of the British paintings from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Those of the finalists who successfully track down John's fake then face one last challenge; to identify an original amongst a collection of forgeries. Only one will emerge as the nationwide champion in the Masterpiece Challenge and will be invited to commission a legal copy of any artwork of their choice.
