The Andes by Hamish Fulton

The Andes by Hamish Fulton
In this episode, British photographer Hamish Fulton explores the Andean region. Born in 1946 in London, Hamish Fulton is a "walker artist," whose work is in line with conceptual and performative art. Since the early 1970s, Hamish Fulton has traveled the world on foot, performing walks - he calls artistic walks - through various landscapes. During his expeditions, Hamish Fulton takes photographic shots at key moments of his trips, while he takes note of the routes, obstacles and durations of each of his walks. He made himself known on the international art scene, through exhibitions consisting of singular works, as so many "traces" of his "artistic walks". The artist associates photographs with textual inscriptions, while his murals inform the viewer about the duration, the route or the conditions of the walk.
