Celebrity portraitist Jean-Marie Périer was born in 1940. Aged 16, he meets Daniel Filipacchi, back then a photographer, who hires him as his assistant. After becoming a press magnate, Filipacchi takes him on at Salut Les Copains magazine where he's an active contributor from 1962 to 1974. He shoots all the stars of the YéYé era: Françoise Hardy, Sylvie Vartan, Johnny Hallyday, Jacques Dutronc but also the Beatles, the Rolling Stones. From 1975, he abandons photography to work on films and moves to the United States. He comes back to France and to photography in the early 90's.
