At the bottom of the Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world: the H\u00f4tel de Crillon. After lavish refurbishment, this 300-year old monument recently received “Palace” status (a better than five-star classification introduced by the French government in 2010).
\nTo reach this goal, epic renovation works were necessary: A \u20ac500 million budget, 4,000 people, including 150 craftsmen, working non-stop over a 4-year period to restore centenary frescoes, woodwork, and tapestries, some of which are classified as historical monuments.
