He was born in 1632 and lived his whole life in Delft. He painted mainly interior scenes, everyday life with middle-class people but also with servants. He is the author of &#8220;The Milkmaid&#8221;, &#8220;The Girl with the Pearl&#8221; and &#8220;The Geographer&#8221;.
