The current Museum opened its doors in 1866, it reflects its elegant Renaissance-style façade, in the waters of the Blasieholmen peninsula, opposite the Royal Palace. It is devoted to art from the 16th century to the 20th century and houses nearly half a million drawings and paintings thanks to its donors, in particular the kings of Sweden. There are many Italian and Spanish paintings, such as those of El Greco or Le Pérugin, but also German, Flemish and Dutch paintings by Rubens, Van Dyck and Rembrandt. Modern painting is also well represented with paintings by Manet, Degas, Morisot, Renoir, Gauguin and even Cézanne. Most of the works of Anders Zorn, one of the greatest Swedish painters, are exhibited in this museum. The painter is particularly known for his Swedish rural paintings, portraits and nudes as well as magnificent depictions of water.

The Nationalmuseum is in Stockholm, it houses many works from the 16th century to the 20th century including those of Rubens, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Manet, Degas, Morisot, Renoir, Gauguin and Anders Zorn.

[15
2488,545,548
667
2491
post-139257","program","type-program","status-inactive","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","program_type-episode","group-beaux-arts","group-decryptage","group-visites","d_category-beaux-arts","genre-documentary

Stockholm - Sweden - Museum TV

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/","url":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/","name":"Stockholm - Sweden - Museum TV","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/#primaryimage"},"image":{"@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/#primaryimage"},"thumbnailUrl":"https://www.museumtv.art/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/the-worlds-greatest-painting-museums-season-1-stockholm-sweden66d59dcedae5a.jpg","datePublished":"2022-03-25T01:12:16+00:00","dateModified":"2026-02-28T06:19:14+00:00","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/"]}]},{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"en-US","@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/#primaryimage","url":"https://www.museumtv.art/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/the-worlds-greatest-painting-museums-season-1-stockholm-sweden66d59dcedae5a.jpg","contentUrl":"https://www.museumtv.art/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/the-worlds-greatest-painting-museums-season-1-stockholm-sweden66d59dcedae5a.jpg","width":1920,"height":1080,"caption":"The Nationalmuseum is in Stockholm, it houses many works from the 16th century to the 20th century including those of Rubens, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Manet, Degas, Morisot, Renoir, Gauguin and Anders Zorn."},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/program/25044-stockholm-sweden-s00-e20/#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Accueil","item":"https://www.museumtv.art/en/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Programs","item":"https://www.museumtv.art/programs/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":3,"name":"Stockholm –
