Ferdinand Hodler is the Swiss painter who most marked the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century through several artistic periods. His first paintings were directly from the Swiss realism then he saw his work recognized when he decided to turn to Symbolism. From 1890 onwards, he turned to landscapes where his paintings of lakes and mountain ranges symbolize eternity. Finally, he moved towards Expressionism at the end of the 19th century, using coloured and geometric forms where his most famous paintings depict characters from daily life, such as “The Bucheron” exhibited at the Museum of Orsay. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Ferdinand Hodler is considered the most influential Swiss painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through several artistic periods from realism to expressionism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":149741,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"program_type":[15],"group":[2488,545],"d_category":[667],"genre":[2491],"class_list":["post-127609","program","type-program","status-inactive","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","program_type-episode","group-beaux-arts","group-decryptage","d_category-beaux-arts","genre-documentary"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.0 -
