Bell-Reynal)<\/em><\/p><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In 1968, Jean Dubuffet published&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/monoskop.org\/images\/d\/d1\/Dubuffet_Jean_Asphyxiante_Culture_ed_augmentee.pdf\">The <em>Asphyxiating Culture<\/em><\/a>. This work covers the thinking of the famous artist. Liberating art, an objective that led him towards \u2018art brut\u2019. In 1973, Pierre Dreyfus commissioned a monumental work covering 2000m2. The <em>Salon d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/em>, intended as a place for car factory workers to relax, became a source of conflict between the artist and the Renault management. This project introduced the artist&#8217;s late style. He coined the term \u2018art brut\u2019 in 1945. The main sources of this art were asylums, mediumistic art and the art of the marginalised and eccentric. These inspirations are rediscovered from an angle devoid of academic technical conventions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-380286475cc224ba597bbe1e6b5ddeca is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;The old aspiration of thought to cover a very wide field, too wide, with a single glance fogs its view. A philosophy which took the side of fragmentary fields considered one after the other without concern for making them communicative, and which applied this technique stubbornly, would undoubtedly make some very fertile discoveries. If it were to take the side of incoherence, or at least of a coherence that is not so far-reaching, of a coherence with drawers, thought would probably see itself endowed with an astonishing renewal of its strengths.&#8221;<\/em> Jean Dubuffet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-df6b6c4f7457a7189c17cc86c354c863\">The multiplication of techniques and mediums gives Dubuffet&#8217;s production all its complexity and its path towards a unique universe. The <em>METRO<\/em> series in gouache on brightly coloured paper to his <em>RADIOUS EARTHS<\/em> drawings in Indian ink on paper such as <em>Radieux m\u00e9t\u00e9ore<\/em> from 1952. His interest in natural elements and botany is revealed in the use of butterfly wings for <em>Le strabique<\/em> (1953). The theme of the tree is one of the most spectacular evocations of the parallel world of L&#8217;Hourloupe. The 1972 Group of Four Trees was the first commission by David Rockefeller, President of the Chase Manhattan Bank near Wall Street in New York. Dubuffet obtained the commission through Gordon Bunshaft, architect of the Chase Manhattan Bank headquarters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As the title suggests, the work is made up of four trees whose trunks are evoked by verticality and whose foliage by horizontal elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This monumental group in epoxy painted with polyurethane was built in the artist&#8217;s new workshops in P\u00e9rigny-sur-Yerres, based on a model dating from 1970-1971. The 12-metre-high group was inaugurated on October 24th of 1972. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ensuring respect for his work<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 53%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>In the 1970s, Jean Dubuffet created his own foundation with the aim of concentrating a large part of his production in one place. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationdubuffet.com\/\">The Dubuffet Foundation<\/a> is organised on two sites. One in P\u00e9rigny-sur-Yerres in the Val-de-Marne department and the other in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationdubuffet.com\/upload\/file-1740581515640.pdf \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"587\" height=\"397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.museumtv.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/closerie-falbala-.png\" alt=\"Vue sur La Closerie Falbala r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en \u00e9poxy et b\u00e9ton. Most of the growth took place in Western Europe and the United States. Artists such as the American Thornton sr. Dial and the Dutchman Willem van Genk follow in the artistic footsteps of Dubuffet, who died 40 years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museeduniel.com\/fr\/dubuffet-et-les-magiciens\">Mus\u00e9e du Niel,<\/a> a stopover between art and the sea in Hy\u00e8res, addresses the question of Dubuffet and his successors; <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museeduniel.com\/fr\/dubuffet-et-les-magiciens\">Dubuffet and the Magicians, Singular Expressions <\/a>1945-2000<\/em>. The museum invites spectators from May 3 to November 2, 2025 for the occasion.
